[video URL updated after vimeo.com stopped working... thanks all here + Jelle!]
This video by Appapeal.com collects 276 logos (so they say), played back with the song "Just Google" by Lex Friedman.
[Thanks Jelle of Comcoaster!] |
Just wanted to add, "Just Google" is by both Lex Friedman and Seth Brown. |
<<Sorry This Video no longer exists>>

Thanks, I changed it to another URL after vimeo.com stopped working (for all videos I'm told?). |
"Veoh is no longer available in your country." |
Who else gets that message? |
Good song, don't like the way they displayed the logos though :( |
> People "from all but 33 countries".
Why are they doing it? The statement quoted in the blog post doesn't explain things much.
Here are other locations of the video: http://blip.tv/file/1095319 http://www.viddler.com/explore/Comcoaster/videos/2/ |

Sure, the blog post explains it exactly:
"...we want to make sure we’re differentiating ourselves in terms of products and ad platforms to monetize."
They compared their costs versus ad revenue for each country, and dropped the countries where they were losing the most money:

OK, this is how I understood it too, but I'm still not quite sure this explains all of it, i.e. what is the cause of this? Do e.g. Romanian visitors click less on ads, or do less companies pay for ads targeted at the whole world, and e.g. are there more companies buying ads just for Germany (where the service works) vs say Romania? And does this really help their site in the long run – considering so much less people will send around a link, which even hurts traffic in countries that work (because a citizen of a supported country may have a friend who's a citizen in a banned country... but that friend now won't send the link around)? |
It's impossible to make any profit in the rest of the world, now. Life's there is a lil' too cheap. |
