The start of Weezer's recent "Pork and Beans" video is actually a tribute to this. It's one of the harder memes to spot, but it's clearly intentional, if you've seen both videos. |
The canon is amazing. I mean, the original one, is just great, I enjoy it so much. I learned it for piano recently. This guitar version is very well too, and there are other interesting ones out there. YouTube is a place where singers/musicians/etc have the chance to become popular without resources! |
Ok, now search for Daft Bodies on youtube! It is a meme originating from Daft Hands. |
How can you do an article on Canon in D without linking to this hilarious bit of comedy?

For shame! |
A short comment on that SPIEGEL cover: The idea isn't that new (http://marcambinder.theatlantic.com/archives/2008/08/doof_indeed.php) |
Ervin , I've seen both of those a while ago. All I have to say is way too much time on their hands to think up those videos and moves. Pretty cool none the less.

it would only be fair to also state that the taiwanese artist "Jerry C" is the very first one to have released this "rock" version of Pachelbel's Canon in D, which was then reproduced (some might say "plagiarized" or "ripped-off" in some of those cases) by hundreds (thousands?) of other artists and hobbyists on YouTube.

my bad, didn't see JerryC was at least credited in the guitar90 video.
But when all this madness started a few years ago he rarely was and that was a real pity considering he's trying to make a record.

5 hours to late ... if moo hadn't posted the video I would have :) I just recently added it to my favorites. |
And there's an existing Wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canon_Rock_(music) |
