I've noticed a new 2000 character in gmail chat. I guess this is something that can only be implemented at the client level for xmpp/jabber. When i tried it in Empathy (milti-protocol IM client for GNU), there was no limit. I also tested GTalk which has not applied the limit yet (i suppose someone else would have noticed it already if it had).

Gmail returns the message "You cannot send messages over 2000 characters long"

This IS new, right?

It might be! I remember pasting long code snippets in chat with no problems before.

There was *A* limit there before, I think it might have been higher though :/

Anybody know what that limit was?
