Well it a good concise guide but it mostly confined to on-page optimization bits. I could also see a few inconsistencies and the lack of assertion that these would practices would improve rankings. [Is Google up to something? kneoteric.com/blog/search-engines/is-google- up-to-something]

I always want to have the list of all SEO best practices on a single guide, even though I have a really good idea of what they are over the years of following Google's changes. This official guide will be even more valuable for all SEO professional, if Google keeps updating it.

It's a little underwhelming, even for a starter guide... but it sure would be nice if every site did at least these basics.
