Google closed the search engine Searchmash, http://www.searchmash.com/
(has gone the way of the dinosaur) |
Marissa Mayer ruthlessly killing products :-) 2 on the same day. |
Nooooo!!! I <3 Searchmash!
Don't mind them geting rid of Lively, but searchmash was cool (Lively had the *potential* to be cool) |
2 products on one day indeed, i don't hope that Google does this every day from now on :-). I think that searchmash was cool indeed but it was a little unnessesary. |
It may be related to SearchWiki.
[Google is a serial killer] |
I personally like that the idea of focusing more on core products.
At the end, they'll improve their key products, better integrate them (docs, calendar, reader, chat, maps, youtube, translate, opensocial, chrome...), and, bonus, enter new promising sector (energy, health, etc.). |
Noooo! My Baby!
To be fair though SearchMash had nothing much going for it, since Ask and Yahoo Australia started going live with similar things, even Google "Universal Search" (Which I never seem to get, it's the same little things I got before it was announced. Universal search is a let down for me) to a certain extent.
SearchMash did have a slick look though :) |
I think it's rather unfortunate that the searchmash, being a very fertile platform and a playground for creativity, was boldly closed by google. With due respect, why was it published at all? and now closes? It really frustrated my application. I don't understand why google has to tantalize it's users in this manner. |
does anybody know a substitute for for searchmash apart from http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/services/search/web?v=1.0&q. The problem with this is that , not all results are returned. |
