Hi Philip – thanks for your blog.
A potentially interesting thing re this rollout of Google Reader interface update is that it became visible to me in Firefox in mid-session today, but I still see the old interface in Chromium – despite deliberately reloading the page.
Is Google selective about the useragent in its rollout of new features?

There's a simpler, cleaner, yet not too-unsophisticated Reader view available to all without greasemonkeying around:
just add an "m/" token after "reader/" in the url, e.g.
http://www.google.com/reader/m/subscriptions?hl=en
It's the mobile reader but usable also on desktops – one can navigate with space and tab keys; subscribe (but not unsub here); star and share items; and view feeds in folders --here called "tags"-- or piecemeal. The only truly missing feature is the lack of a search function. Otherwise, it rocks in terms of readablity and at-a-glance-accessibility. |
