I have only one wish:
Connect all services and apps together. I mean for example, if you Gmail your friend a photo, why not Google suggest you to upload it to PicasaWeb?
(We've seen it this year in some services, but that wasn't enough)

- More integration, I agree,
- More space on picasaweb
- GDrive
- Google Presentations: more compatibility with Powerpoint
- Saving pdf attachs from Gmail to Gdocs
- Editing of pdf attachs (cf open office)
- Etc. Etc. Etc.

Google accounts and Google Apps domains to get OpenId like Blogger.
FriendConnect to expand and integrate to other products.
Profiles to expand and integrate like Facebook.
Google SMS Channels or Jaiku integrated into Google and Google Apps.
Google Groups for Google Apps.
Picasa Web Album for Google Apps and more space.
Google App Engine with PHP. Forum like phpBB maybe possible then.
Google Sites to be more like Blogger and allow html, script and iframes.
Option to allow anonymous post comment/send files in Google Docs, Google Sites, Picasa, Profiles etc like Blogger comments function.

I'd love to see functionality of Contacts in Gmail expanded so that:
- other fields (city, notes, etc) can be searched ... I can't express how much this would improve my workflow
- web URLs associated with a contact can be clicked (I put these URls in the Other fields for now)
- general performance improvements ... Contacts really slows down my browsers, especially Safari

and, yes, Gdrive ...

Stop siding with repressive governments to censor the Internet

More work with GMail, for better fusion with desktop applications with Linux, Mac and Windows. In particular the addressbook.

Consider moving Google out of America and choose a country where the American and other Western Governments can't put pressure on you – and think of the tax concessions you could negotiate.

A central console which would contain all the Google web applications a user uses, so once he logs on to the console, one button pressed would open whichever application he chooses within a shell so it easy to swop in between.

One big google service, no gdrive(it wouldn´t have any value for the majority of the people and practically nobody would understand the cost of such a service and would greatly underestimate it) I would rather see a system where one could make a "google server" were all data would be hosted. That way google would only parse the data and it would take away lots of privacy issues... I guess.

Better use of Google Contacts. (better use w/ iphone)
-Contacts for mobile. full editing option.

Better integration of Google Bookmarks

Set up reader's starred items more like bookmarks so they can be organized. or set them up SOME way so they can be organized. same with shared items.

Chrome extensions. I'll stick with firefox until chrome can has extenshiuns.

All my google "stuff" (photos, base, etc) can access my gmail storage. 1gb for picasa should just bleed into the gmail storage, and it should all be 1 big storage per account.

Some security for gmail account, so I can prove I'm me to you, and you can reinstate account if need be.

Gmail push for iPhone.

better explanation (maybe on "profiles" page) of what other people can see of me and my profile, that lists everything I use, and when it was last updated.

Google books to list all the magazines there are full views for (and get more full magazines!)

Wildcard search in gmail!!!

Integrate calendar and gmail. Sometimes I want to see when emails arrived on my calendar. In gmail, within a search, have option "see on calendar" or similar.

Docs within calendar. Spreadsheet within day for grid view of items.

Different favicons for google services

Birthdays in Google Contacts

Folders in Web Albums!!!

I will probably think of more. And some are copied from previous... just reiterating them.

Better syncing tools. I would love an app to come out for mac that replaces the mobile Me functionality seamlessly.
So Mail.app is perfectly in sync with GMail, along with iCal and iPhoto being in sync with picasa web albums.
Also implement GDrive and have it mount properly to the system.

(I'm pretty sure that apple wouldn't be too keen on that!).

- street view in the UK
- tasks access from more places (gCal, iGoogle, iphone, android).
- integration of blogger into google sites
- gmail keyboard shortcuts for the igoogle gmail gadget.

CONTACTS
- sync with FaceBook, LinkedIn, MySpace, etc, so that contact info is always up to date.
- search for/merge duplicates, a la Plaxo

CHROME
- integrate Google bookmarks
- integrate autofill, autolink, and all the rest of Google toolbar

BLOGGER
- multiple pages (eg, "About this blog")
- a decent, grown-up profile page with space for, eg, your publications, not just your favorite movies and such
- a built-in 'read-more' functionality

NOTEBOOK
- improve interface: eg--
= allow better reorganizing via drag and drop
=do tabbed organization, a la OneNote
=allow for at least one more level of organization, a la OneNote
- allow the browser Note This tool to include PDFs and other online documents
- provide a Note This tool for Outlook, etc, so you can include emails in the notes.

GOGGLE DOCS
- a true 'track changes' function (ie, where you can choose to accept THIS change, but not THAT change; the current revisions function requires you to either accept everything or reject everything.)
- buy ZOHO, integrate its functionality into Google docs, Google Sites, etc., and add its business tools.

#1 HTML signatures in Gmail

#2 Offline Gmail and Calendar

#3 Less bugs in Gears. Frequently have problems with offline Docs

#4 Automatic uploads of PDF files into Google Docs or perhaps a slideshow way of looking at attachments. I have hundreds of PDF files attached to Efax emails and every now and then I have to search through dozens if not hundreds of Efax attachments before I find what I'm looking for. A simple slideshow would allow me to quickly scan through them.

#4 I haven't used the Gmail video chat yet but I assume it doesn't store the video. I would like it if it stored the video. Perhaps an integration between Youtube and Gmail is in order.

#5 Add-ons for Chrome.

#6 When viewing pages in Application Mode in Chrome I would like a way for me to breakout of the app mode into normal mode. Often I need to continue using the application (like Google Docs) but need to reference other webpages at the same time. Opening a new window is inconvenient.

#7 Change the Picasa desktop app. It's not intuitive at all.

Need a full-fledged contacts management application – define an address book standard which all communications systems can use (email systems, phone system, etc.), provide better interface maintain our address books, allow address books of different people to communicate with each other (if I change my phone number or address, all/select of my friends' addressbooks should be automatically updated), downloadable address books.

AP, Google certainly doesn't bias its search results toward sites that show AdSense. As that original blog post notes, correlation does not imply causality. There could be all sorts of other reasons, from Live search actively disliking AdSense (though I doubt this) to publishers using AdSense being more aware of Google, more tech-savvy, or more aware of free tools such as Google Webmaster Tools that might help site owners. You're also doing a small set of one-word queries, which could skew things in all kinds of ways, rather than (say) random real-world queries.

Matt Cutts [PersonRank 10]

Lots more contacts suggestions than I would have thought; thanks for all the good suggestions.

Agreeing with others on:
1. More integration across Google services.
2. Tighter integration across Google Services while preserving opt-out and data export.
3. Make Contacts suck less.
4. GDrive.
5. Google to not go bankrupt or turn extremely evil anytime ever.
6. More Android devices and features.
7. Buy Remember the Milk and put it in GMail.
8. Put GrandCentral in GMail and Contacts. Nao, plz. Even if you charge (modestly) for it.

Also submitting
1. Filtering on Contact Groups.
2. Combine Contacts with Google Reader and a future version of Open Social for a persistent social graph. If Facebook doesn't want to play they can go suck eggs.
3. Even more file formats for Docs (iWork and Wordperfect).
4. Make an easy unified file manager across Code, Youtube, Docs and Picasa. This will cover 75% of GDrive's benefits for most users. Often, one's most important files are pictures, movies, and documents (including emails, forms, and chat transcripts).
5. A Shetland pony. I shall name it "Sprinkles".
6. More love for the Symbian devices that don't suck (there are many of them)

Better integration of all apps (Gmail, Doc, Notebook, Calendar, Reader, Photos, Groups). I'd like to be able to reach everything without having to open multiple tabs or windows. Possibly tabs within gmail.

Notebook/bookmarks sprucing up. Integration with gmail (side gadget or new tab). I use this app for everything!

Being able to change the navigation at the top of gmail to suit most used apps.

2. iPhone/iTunes sync with Google Calendar, plus a Google Finance App.

3. Yes, spruce up Google Notebook! Specifically, add photo & voice memo capability, particularly through an updated G-Notebook mobile app (desperately needed).

4. And, while you're at it, further develop and apply voice-to-text function b/w the mobile app and all Google programs, particularly Gmail, Calendar, and Notebook, a la Jott and Spinvox (but w/out the price!). This, more than anything, would set Google apart in the mobile app world.

Shared contact groups in Gmail (Domain version).... PLEASE!!

Imagine my company.... 20 people working with a group of about 300 clients (the "ideal" shared contact group).

The way it is now, if one of my 20 people learns of a change at one of the clients, they have to (manually) email the other 19 team members, who each have to (manually) update their copy of that contact!?

That's the most unproductive idea from Google yet, especially while they keep boasting that Google Apps increase group efficiency!!

Never forget this. Don't compromise this no matter how bad the economic and financial crisis gets. In the long run, this is why the world will love you!

2. More Storage!
MUCH more storage especially for paid accounts. What happened to striving for infinite storage?

3. A non-sucking Orkut overhaul
Seriously...

4. GrandCentral Update--
Integration with GMail coontacts and Gtalk voice (& video?) chat wold be absolutely killer.

5. Serious OpenID Support
Provide and accept OpenID for all Google accounts (obviously non-Gmail Google accounts can't do certain things...like use GMail).

6. Ability to merge contacts
I have way too many contacts for this to be possible to do manually, it's insane.

7. Make Google Shared Stuff really useful
Similar to Digg/Reddit but done Google-style (better interface, tags instead of sections, region specific view, a fairer system, etc). See: http://pinstack.blogspot.com/2008/07/5-things-id-love-to-see-from-digg.html

8. Accept open formats
OpenOffice presentations for Google Docs, theora videos for Google Video and YouTube etc, etc.

9. YouTube (gradual?) Overhaul
YouTube doesn't look very nice and Googley, and it doesn't have any balance between features and a clean/intuitive interface. Also, decide how to separate or merge YouTube and Google Video. Will GVid search and YT host, or will you just merge them?

10. Non-Flash Video Playback
Allow Google Video/YouTube to play formats other than flash (like the original video file).

11. Take on PayPal
Google Checkout is great but needs some of the key features from PayPal in order to really be able to compete. Then Google Base could add EBay and Craigslist like functionality (and expand Google Classifieds from Russia).

12. Speak lojban!
Lojban has a lot of potential for Google in the translation department, and a lot of potential for the world in a bunch of departments (universal language, etc). See: http://pinstack.blogspot.com/2008/02/top-7-reasons-to-learn-lojban.html

13. Google Answers
Expand this out of Russia already!

14. Bridge with AIM
AIM was supposed to be bridged with GTalk, not just accessible through GMail chat! AOL was experimenting with Jabber/XMPP so pressure them to go forth with that.

15. GDrive
Or at least "accidentlly" leak more info about it's status/progress ;)

16. More use of technology aquired from NevenVision
Improving image search (and removing the need for the ridiculous image labeler "game"), improving Picasa Web Albums-- automatically extracting text and shapes from images.

17. Mobile Social Networks
Merge Dodgeball, Zingku, Jaiku, and all that mobile social networking stuff [with the non-sucky Orkut?].

18. Feedburener update
Feedburner really needs to be Google-ized and integreated with other services (blogger).

19. Page Creator --> Google Sites
Hurry up and make the migration and then start making big improvements to Google Sites!

20. Release MeasureMap
'Nuff Said.

21. Refuse censorship
See: #1. Don't be evil

22. Cross-platform everything
Make everything cross-platform (reduce the release time gap between different platforms, ideally to zero)

23. Free as much source code as possible
Continue and expand on your commitment to free software!

Blogger should be fixed so that it us usable, or withdrawn.

The way it is now, peopl make investment into learning it, starting a blog, before they realize it us unusable.

Blogger is the first Google application, which I consider a failure,
tarnishing the Google good name.

You provide "help" via a Google group.
OK. service is free – you cannot answer individual questions. I understand.

BUT. Group is not moderated. There is more spam than postings in it.
 Questions go unansvered fro weks.

It looks like one employee give it one hour once a week

POSTING is painfully SLOW (at this location .cz)

when I mail in a text in unicode, it does horrible comversion to html
so that it is unreadable in the blogger.

Example : I send in

"Je po příměří," uzavřel.

site

It converts that into :

 "Je po příměří," uzavřel.
<a href=htpp:/hedgie.eu > site </a>

a je to
</body>
</html>

HOW DO I mail in or ftp a finished HTML (preferably with images) in place?

With the increasing dependency we have on Google for storing all sorts of our information, it would be really really great if we have a simple mechanism to backup and restore the contents we've placed on Google's various services (like the mails & chats in Gmail, the scraps in Orkut, the documents in Google Docs, the photos in Picasaweb, etc.). This will really solve the really-scary problem of "what if your Google account is hacked and made unusable to you?". Right now the answer for this is just, "you are screwed, mate!". I definitely want to the see a simple & effective backup-restore mechanism, as soon as possible, as this is my number one wish.

Sekar [PersonRank 1]

Let me add some more and put it as a list:

1. BACKUP-RESTORE for all the content we've placed on Google's various services.

2. A lightweight Google-made email desktop client that integrates tightly with Gmail & other Google services (kind of a single streamlined desktop extension to Google's online services)

3. Better contact management in Gmail.

4. Tight integration between services, and a single interface to access all of Google's services.

5. Chrome extension support.

6. Integrate Google Video & Youtube somehow meaningfully.

7. Streamline orkut.

I would like the Google Calendar to work more like Outlook. Simple event management with alerts and such. I would envision being able to see availability of restaurants (i.e. like I can see the availability of conference rooms at work). This could extend to car rentals, hotels and even flights...basically the possibilities should be endless!

Also, I would like the ability to search undergrad, graduate and post-doc degrees. Maybe this service is already available. If so please point me in the right direction :-). I realize this is a niche demand but it sure would be valuable to current students and potential students around the world (think about it...increased access to those with an internet connection-no longer would rare/elite universities and uncommon degrees be difficult to reach). I would imagine that an intuitive linked search would be funding once the user found the right degree and college (e.g. loans, grants, scholarships, etc.)

Thanks and keep up the good work!

I realise this probably won't help you out, but the Irish Government has what you envision implemented, albeit only for Irish degrees at http://www.cao.ie/courses.php . I would Imagine, based on this, that most other countries have a similar system, though one centralized place to search would be cool :)

Nice and simple, I mostly just want the existing products to be fixed.

Better help/explanations for what the various numbers mean on Analytics

Analytics Adobe Air app to actually work (won't even download for many people)

Google Apps to allow you to upload ANY filetype. In fact, Google Apps should expand into a collaboration tool like Basecamp, isn't that the whole point of the web? If I can't share fully I may as well use iWork.

ReadAir to also actually work (never marks what you've read as read)

Chrome for OS X

Don't even worry about new products, clean up the existing ones. Google Apps, one of the rare paid services, is virtually unused for me with the exception of getting Google to host my business' email. It also seems either pretty buggy or just a bad user experience. I would like to see Google products in general become more elegant in their UI and appearance.

1. Produce a decent sync app between Google Calendar and the iPhone's internal calendar. (The existing mobile interface is simply too difficult to use.)

1. Mind Maps. There are some pretty good ones out there already, but I don't trust them to stay in business and they do not integrate well with iGoogle. I would like to be able to work with using an iGoogle gadget. This will make it easier to use them while at work.

2. In iGoogle I would like an option to put the tabs back on the top, not on the side.

3. A Gmail reader. At work all my online emails are blocked, so I can't see them at work. Meaning if I try to log into the Gmail website, I'll get a big message saying I can't go there. It would be great if there was a Gmail reader that won't let me compose messages or send messages, but perhaps just read the messages. It could be an iGoogle gadget.

4. A Gmail viewer. The one thing a really, really miss when using the Gmail website is being able to click on a message and then the message in a view screen. Maybe that's just me, but I do miss it.

5. Thank you. You guys at Google do a great job. Sure there's stuff I'd like to have, but I still give Google five stars. Thanks.

I would like to be able to create a filter for a specific email address, have it be labeled but have have an option for it to not show up in the inbox. One of the useful functions of filters is pushing the management of the emails on to the filter. By making it mandatory to actually archive the email it sort of defeats the purpose of the filter in a way, or at the very least robs it of it true potential power. In my Premium Yahoo account, I have almost 50 filters that I use to have certain emails sent to multiple folders so I don't have to spend time dealing with in my inbox. It saves so much effort in having to otherwise manage the emails. I think it could be added as an optional rule when you're creating the filter.

Disposable addresses email addresses would be nice as well, so you can hack off the email when you start receiving spam from it. Yahoo lets you choose the prefix of the email, then you add the specific name after it when you create it. Something like: spamcatcher-dell[put at-character here]yahoo.com or spamcatcher-proflowers[put at-character here]yahoo.com etc etc. It works out quite well.

Just a few things I've been thinking about since making the switch from Yahoo.

<<Disposable addresses email addresses would be nice as well, so you can hack off the email when you start receiving spam from it.>>

Gmail has this! Add anything after you address separated with a plus or minus. For example, my address is xuanjames[put at-character here]gmail.com, and if i signed up to ebay.com I give them the address xuanjames+ebay[put at-character here]gmail.com so if I get span from that address I know ebay has been selling my info :D

<<I would like to be able to create a filter for a specific email address, have it be labeled but have have an option for it to not show up in the inbox>>

This can also be done. In settings, look under Filters, here you can select "skip inbox" and it will do what you require :D

Hope I helped

Also a system that hosts open classes, supported by Google, so that teachers wanting to teach a certain subject can do so easily teaching to people who subscribe to the class making it so that every student is actually engaged into whatever they are learning because they chose to do so. Over time the student would receive a type of Google Credits that would add up in their profile displaying what classes they have taken and etc. This would quench people's thirst for knowledge on a global basis since it would be hosted over the internet and also make it easily accessible to everyone.
