For this post http://blogoscoped.com/forum/posts-by-Dan+Howitt.html The top part (they hyperlink and google-result summar, and bold print) ..... how did the person format his post like that, with the hyperlink and bold print? I tried to use some HTML code but wasn't able to do it. |
This is simply the first result found on Google for the query ["Dan Howitt" -blogoscoped-forum] (which, in an ideal world, should return any personal web page for Dan Howitt, excluding any pages from the Google Blogoscoped forum). Google bolds the phrases searched for automatically, for example:
http://www.google.com/search?q=%22Dan+Howitt%22+-blogoscoped-forum |
My name no longer links to the porn star with the same name. It now links to a Florida doctor with the same name.
Here's a suggestion for a better algorithm: First try this query: ["Dan Howitt" blogoscoped -site:blogoscoped.com] If that returns no results, fall back to ["Dan Howitt" -site:blogoscoped.com]
That way, we can add a comment to our preferred profile page (e.g. something like "I am a regular reader of Google Blogoscoped") and that page will be linked from our forum comments here. |
