<<One of the features that makes Gmail different is its use of labels instead of folders. Sure, labels can serve pretty much the same purpose – they can help organize mail or flag messages for follow up. And unlike with folders, messages can have several labels, so if I get an email from a friend about a trip we're taking together, I can add both a "Friends" and a "Travel" label to it.>>

I don't set labels manually too much, because almost all the mails are filtered automatically, but it's a nice new feature that probably will help me organize. Yay! |
These style of buttons were already leaked by accident in google blog post about gmail themes... http://gmailblog.blogspot.com/2008/11/spice-up-your-inbox-with-colors-and.html
I did mention it at the time, but we weren't really sure why they were like that.
Great new feature anyway! |
And gmail's copyright year has been updated to 2009 today. |

[moved ~ hebbet] Is everyone seeing the new gmail button layout, or is it just me? |
Ohh, where did the 'search the web' within Gmail function go. I miss it! |
Seems that SPAM label is now shown as every other labels : it appears on every mail in the spam folder, you can also remove it by clicking the x near the label in the mail view.
|
Move to spam (with the help of the new button, and autocompletion) works great to! |
Same for "chats", "all mail", "outbox", "draft", "trash" labels that are now showed...
You can also move to inbox a mail in your outbox (while offline) or in the draft folder. |
Here is an interesting article about the design of these buttons: http://stopdesign.com/archive/2009/02/04/recreating-the-button.html |
