not sure if it is new, but Disallow: /topicsearch?q= Disallow: /xfx7/ were added to robots.txt
http://www.google.com/topicsearch?q=google 404 error http://www.google.com/xfx7 404 |
it might be related to other subdomains than "www", I'm still searching them ;) |
Does anyone has any hint/guess about new products? I remember a collaborative translation service that has been leaked: no news? |
The following URL looks like it appeared in someone's referral logs:
0.gnsite-dev.fe.search-newux.da.borg.google.com:45000/xfx7/a/google.com/
Here: http://www.blogrovr.com/stats/ref_200810.html
So it "xfx7" looks like it could possibly be some Google Apps enabled service.
Jérôme, I've heard nothing else about Google Translate Center since finding the service last year: http://blogoscoped.com/archive/2008-08-04-n48.html |
I've heard of "Topic Search" on Ionut's blog "* grouping search results by topic" http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2009/05/whats-in-store-for-google-search.html |
Tony What was shown in the Blogoscoped article for the Translate Center looks very good. They could have launched it early and taken feedbacks for later integration in Docs. But I now think they've tested it with professional translators, and will release it directly as a Docs feature: it's better communication for their Office suite as an integrated launch will be covered as "Why Google Apps is defeating MS Office", instead of "An old Google Labs takes its place in Google Docs". Personally, I'd prefer an early release in googlelabs.com.
TOMHTML Those search options are great IMHO: * Although I doubt topic grouping is accurate, the idea is excellent: I often need to exclude categories from results but "~" and "-" operators doesn't work together, as far I as know. * excluding previously viewed search results would be awesome: when you refined your search query, it means you haven't found the right result so far and thus want the noise to be hidden in your next searches. * I'm not sure about the people grouping, whether it means authors or persons named in the content.
PS: I'm sorry to have polluted your topic with my personal question, but maybe xfx7 is actually the translation service :) |
