I have lost my customized IGoogle home page, my g-mail account, bookmarks, etc. What is going on? This is the second time I have lost my homepage. Somehow it came back, but now that I lost it again I can't seem to find a way to get it back. I turned my computer off and back on, but no success. Please help. thank you

When I put in a search word or topic I want to search for, it then brings up a menu to pick from (like it supposed to do).

I then click on one of the web sites to look at. MY Question Is: How do I get the web site I clicked on to open up in a new page?

In order for me to get back to the menu I can't simply click on the X in the upper right corner. I have to keep clicking on the 'back' arrow in the upper left corner. If I click on the X, I close everything, including my IGoogle homepage and then I have to start all over again. I
I did not have this problem when I used AOL as my homepage. thanks

Go to this page:
http://www.google.com/preferences

and select "Open search results in a new browser window." Don't forget to click on "Save Preferences".

JoAnn.

First, I would recommend to use a modern Web browser such as:
* Firefox http://www.mozilla.com/en-US
* Google Chrome http://www.google.com/chrome
* Internet Explorer 8 http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/default.aspx

They all let you open a page as a tab, so that you can close one page without losing the pages you've opened before (you homepage, your email box...).

Then, to open a search result from Google on a new tab/page, you can do it either
* by setting up your Google preferences as Ionut said so
* by holding the "Ctrl" keyboard key when you click the link
* by using the middle click of your mouse

Those solutions work for every links. You can also configure your Web browsers to do so by default for all hyperlinks, but it's quite annoying though.

Finally, to answer your first question, I think you can keep iGoogle as your homepage by:
1) setting up your browser preferences: igoogle.com or google.com/ig
2) being logging in your Google Account (link at the top right of the page)
2) making sure that iGoogle is activated: you should have a link "Classic Home" near the "log out" link. You can then toggle between the light Google page or iGoogle.

If it doesn't help, look at http://www.google.com/support/websearch/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=25557. It's the *official* help center for Google, with details for each browser.

Good luck!
