Haha, i only supported OpenID because unified login is awesome, and it was open. If WebFinger can do the same, and is also open, i'm all for it =] |
The techcrunch post suggests that WebFinger can point to an identity server such as OpenID, but won't provide identity services itself.
So WebFinger can't replace OpenID.
WebFinger seems to be about providing reliable metadata for an email address. A cool and useful idea for sure, but not a game-changer. |
