MOMA is an I.T. industry acronym for Message Oriented Middleware Application. Google might have just reused this, as the internal statistics app sounds as if it was real-time – stuff was being "pushed" to the browser rather that the browser fetching statistics via a refresh.
One way to architect this is to use a message bus... see tibco.com for an example. (although , i would suspect that Google wrote it themselves rather than buying it in)
