New Higher-Resolution Maps?

If you go to Google Maps, zoom in on a city, and switch to satellite mode, you aren't in the closest zoom setting. If you try to zoom in further, it says satellite information isn't available. I don't think you could get that close before (the closest zoom was always the top notch, I thought), is Google getting ready to roll out higher resolution satellite pictures?

No high res stuff yet, but I thought I'd point out I update my Google Map Updates page:

If you scroll to the bottom, you can see the comparison between version w2.7 of Google Maps (the current official version) and ap.3 which is found on some mashups (randomly?).

Nevermind, the higher zoom level (that didn't have content), is gone now.
