It's interesting to observe the battle between Google and Yandex here in Russia. It's an area of special interest for Sergey Brin knowing his roots and also it's one of the few (maybe only) market where domestic search engine dominates (Yandex.ru). Although praising the quality of Google search, for Russian I use both and the quality of Yandex is on par. The latter tries also some interesting ideas. For example, if you type a beginning of a poem it will show a bigger fragment as a motto in the results. Also Yandex was first here that took russian complex morphology into account. I'm glad to see yandex as a gentle anti-globbalist :)
