GoogleSharing is providing Google services through a specialized anonymizing proxy. It uses the https protocol to hide information from intermediary sites. It rewrites requests to anonymize information sent to Google. That information may now be available to the proxy server (e.g. GoogleSharing). It is suitable for services that don't require being logged in to a Google account.
Currently the client is a Firefox addon. GoogleSharing is making the proxy server code available for anyone to run one of these proxies, so in theory Google could be running some of the proxies.

Isn't this service misnamed? Methinks more appropriate and better descriptors would be GooSabotage™; NoMoGooSucker®; Google Mon-Non-Amour™ and similar. |
