I used to play a similar game with a few friends, using IMDb to get from one actor to another using movies, and sometimes television series. |
5 clicks is impressive :) and looking at the posting times: did I really just spend the better part of an hour to do this :?P |
Even if it is to get clicks, it's for a good cause (wikipedia), and Google is not a bad cause too!. |
Google California Los Angeles County Baywatch Pamela Anderson Doink the Clown |
This site does this for you – but the database is 2 years old... http://www.netsoc.tcd.ie/~mu/wiki/
It gave me Google December 17 Nick Dinsmore Doink the Clown
but google no longer links to december 17 :( |
I first started like 5 years ago... then a few years ago I found a pretty cool system that times you and everything... I am going to go find that again and report back here... |
ok, here it is... http://www.cs.mcgill.ca/~rwest/wikispeedia/ there is also http://wikirace.org/ |
A strategy to win the game would be to take as many hubs as possible and then narrow down from larger concepts to smaller ones until the destination is reached ... in a way ... look for a highway, take it for as long as you reach the city then the neighborhood and then the house.
Here a hub is a page which has a lot of inbound links and outbound links, it takes you quickly from possibly different concepts.
It makes sense if we view Wikipedia as a mapping of human knowledge and we then think about the way we make sense of apparently different concepts. The funny part is that this strategy is self defined since now suddenly these concepts have gotten closer ... closer as now someone might have created a Wikirace or blogged about it. |

On a Wiki you can win any race. Even this one. Still. |
Someone
2 problems with that:
1) You're editing a page after a wikirace began 2) The talk page link is technically not in the article |
My god, it's tragic what some people find amusing |
