Excellent. I've seen the early images already. Adam rocks. The iPad is awful in comparison.

Tadeusz, isn't your unbridled enthusiasm for the Adam tablet[*] a bit premature? I'm not arguing against your choice, only trying to understand the frame of mind that allows someone obviously capable of coherent thought to come out so strongly in favor of what can only be described as announceware from some unknown third-world manufacturer.

Either you know something I don't, or else I must be mad for thinking that producing field-dependable mobile gadgets is a challenge quite unlike that of desktop equipment. When you are constrained by weight, volume, and stand-alone session time, all initial "must have" specifications are subject to reevaluation. As there is no such thing as a free lunch, and, given that laws of physics apply everywhere, if your choice hardware promises to put all those "missing from iPad"-bits at your disposal, then, surely, that must have been achieved at the expense of some other, perchance more vital/ mission-critical aspects of it.

I don't think I'll be buying an iPad very soon, but I do know that what I'd then be getting would be of highest quality – in terms of build, construction and design. Usable right out of the box. Can you say the same about that which you're so bullish about?

[^*] first the Jesus Tablet™, now Adam. Are we to expect an Eve Tablet as well?

Ianf: You sound a litle condescing don't you? When it comes to engineering and technology India is not "third world" at all. The Adam tablet has everything the iPad lacks. Besides the iPad gets manufactured and developed in China by Foxconn.

The Adam tablet has a camera, changeable battery, Flash support, USB, HDMI and SD card support. It's also a real computer with multitasking support unlike the iPad.

Don't believ the hype and don't look just for famous brand names but look at the actual specs.

Tadeusz, you still haven't answered my question about grounds for your unchecked enthusiasm; and I fail to see where my calling that self-hyped gadget "announceware from some unknown third-world manufacturer" might be con•des•cen•ding (is that an argument in your pocket, or are you just anxious to beat me).

Like it or not, where industrial infrastructure is concerned[*] India is every bit a third-rate country. I've never heard of Notion Ink previously, and, prior to April of 2009, neither did they – or is it just one wo/man, Rohan Shravan, the sole name visible behind the vaporware. Notion Ink is just a blog and a website, lately with some nice pictures, and a few hard to accept promises ("over 16 hours of video playback" at given "600-650 grams" total weight – what are Adam's batteries made of, Unobtanium?)

In any event, reducing one's future satisfaction of any given piece of equipment down to its paper specifications seems a risky strategy to me. Perhaps because I want my gadgets to just-work in the real, as opposed to the realm of geek dreams?

[^*] this translates to ability to call on reputable local subcontractors and suppliers; it's not an empty word.
