While browsing the Gmail Help with Google Chrome I was offered to install an GOOGLE extension direct from that site: "Add the Google Mail Checker extension to Google Chrome" (http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=173271).
Never saw that or something like this before on any Google site.

I see the box too.

By the way, I've tried this Gmail extension (unoffiial) https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/kkmbodalobogbnejmcdghkfimhodifol, which uses the desktop notiication API. It only works on Windows and Linux with the dev channel. Unfortunately, the notification is hidden by application windows (such as Excel) and it doesn't provide a link to the email.

I wonder why Google hasn't yet release extensions with optional nitifications yet. It's an excellent reason to shift to Chrome, from any other browser.

Give me notifications for Calendar, Docs, Buzz, Friendfeed & Twitter DM (bye bye FF Air app), Facebook, specific Google Reader folders, Reddit FP, Google Voice (should launch in Europe before!) and I'll be a Chrome fan.

Then, make sure the iPhone OS and Android support HTML5 notifications for home bookmarks. Bye bye SMS and good
luck AppStore!
