I'm seeing Google Bookmarks on my search engine results page today. There is a star icon next to each search result and if I click the star, it immediately adds that link to my Google Bookmarks at http://www.google.com/bookmarks

Are you sure it's not an extension causing that?
If it's a feature from Google it's a weird move, as Chrome syncs bookmarks to Google Docs rather than Bookmarks. |
Yeah, I thought about that too... but these are the only extensions I have installed:
Docs PDF/PowerPoint Viewer (by Google) – Version: 1.5.4
Pendule – Version: 0.0.9
Resolution Test – Version: 1.80
I don't have any Google Experimental Labs on either... |
that is not so new and no addon |
hebbet Do you know where this was announced or mentioned before? |
Looks like Jacob saw this new interface today too... but his is a little different then mine. His has the search options open with the icons next to each option.
Even if I open the search options, the icons are not shown for me.
It appears Google is testing several different interfaces again like they did last time with the "minimal home page". |
Oops, here's the link to Jacob's post: http://blogoscoped.com/forum/168423.html |

<<We've long believed that personalization makes search more relevant and fun. For nearly five years, we've been tailoring results with personalized search. Today we're announcing a new feature in search that makes it easier for you to mark and rediscover your favorite web content — stars.>> |
Cool, so this IS new – and no it's not an addon...
So "Stars in search" is replacing SearchWiki. I never really used SearchWiki anyway, but I think Stars in search could be useful.
<< Stars in search replace SearchWiki. In our testing, we learned that people really liked the idea of marking a website for future reference, but they didn't like changing the order of Google's organic search results. With stars, we've created a lightweight and flexible way for people to mark and rediscover web content. For people who like annotations, we have Sidewiki, a more powerful way for people to contribute and discover helpful information next to pages across the Internet. All your existing SearchWiki edits will be preserved with your Google Account...
Stars in search are rolling out in the next couple days and will be available globally for all signed-in users. >>
