It seems Google is trying out some new designs for the social search experiment started last october (blogoscoped.com/archive/2009-1 ...).
This is, how it looks to me right now:

New seems to be:
- the obligatory "BETA" label
- the link to check the "social circle" used and
- the link to search for more content from that "social circle".
I have quite good results so far, but YMMV. It seems to be heavily dependent on whom you follow on Google Buzz.
