Adrianne Jeffries has a story at Read Write Web titled "Ads Directed to Larry Page, Users Selling Their Data Among Google's 'Wacky' Money-Making Ideas". http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/users_selling_their_data_ads_directed_to_larry_pag.php
She explores some of Google's wacky ideas that were mentioned as part of some other stories previously discussed here in the thread "Google Agonizes on Privacy as Ad World Vaults Ahead". http://blogoscoped.com/forum/173270.html
One idea is to pay users or their ISP bill in exchange for more personal information.
Another idea is to sell ads directed to groups or individuals, such as Larry Page.
A third idea is for users to bid on ads directed to themself. If they outbid others they do not see an ad. Wouldn't it be easier, cheaper, and more reliable for the user to use an ad blocker? |
