The doodle is NOT global.
can't see it at google.de, google.fr, google.es, google.at, google.ch, google.is ...

Are there remnants of a partially erased word "Google" in the sky?
The letter "G" seems to be to the right of the branches. The tops of "oog" seem to follow, with the sky paler below them. The overhead leaves on the trees may also have a similar contour. Try enlarging the original to see it better.

Barry mentioned in his post about the doodle that people were see animated balls. I think the users mean that they see the icons when they are using a custom background om the homepage. These icons are now animated which is very annoying :-). With the message Click to view today's doodle when you go over them.
