Yesterday a user posted here that Google had a new 404 page. I see the message was removed? Anyways, yesterday I didn't see the new page but now their is indeed a new and better 404 page.

It's not a fail at all! The volume of spam is so high that it's not practical to anguish in depth over every message before deleting it.

The obligation is surely on the person who posts the message to make sure that it's "obvious" that it doesn't look like it might be spam.

Look at the title of Google's new 404 page:

<title>Error 404 (Not Found)!!1</title>

1 instead of! :)

Oops, this forum software took the space out before my exclamation mark...

[put at-character here]mbegin: well spotted; I hardly ever look at the title bar for web pages.

I don't either, I was looking at the source code and noticed it :)

I like!
The old one had been around for ages! Much nicer, although nostalgia will probably miss the old one.
