When using Google Desktop search, I like the quick results window after hitting Ctrl key twice, but I find that using the find as you type feature often freezed GDS momentarily after trying to backspace out of a typo.

Is there a way to use the quick results window (which is nice) without the find as you type feature, which is nice, but which I can live without? I went into the options, but saw that disabling the find as you type also disables that quick results window from popping up.
