As more and more interesting news filters to the surface, I am doing my best to keep my feedreader trim. In order to consolidate some of my ~70 feeds I recently subscribed to diggdot.us, which brings together del.icio.us, Digg and Slashdot. Since I did this, though, i've noticed a lot of /cruft/ in my feedreader in the morning. I took a look at the top ten headlines for these three sites today, and put stars next to the items that are actually news. It's pretty clear to me that Slashdot's focus on "Stuff that matters" results in a better use of my time. Don't you think? Top ten posts from del.icio.us, Digg and Slashdot this morning:

I also nuked WebmasterWorld today. They've never not posted a dupe. |
Digg definitely has more "fun but irrelevant" links than Slashdot. So, that's good or bad depending how you look at it. I like fun and irrelevant sometimes :) |
