Yeah it is... Because most companies feel the need to be active in selecting minority races: they want a better ratio. Personally I think race should just be ignored, that will fix race problems, not reverse racism where minorities get a boost.

I believe it's also required (as shown in your image) to allow you to decline to respond if you choose. |
It is a common practice. Its a way of keeping the EEOC from charging in levyin massive fees for discriminatory practices.

little typo: its Camichel, no R in Camichel ;) thanks |
Obviously, this is an early indicator of Google's Monster killing app. |
It looks from the screenshot like your responses are kept separate from your job application. It's addiitonal info they can use for research and compliance with EEOC, but it doesn't affect your hiring. I think that's standard in the US. |
I (we all) have to thank you for all the information and time you spend for this nice source :) |
Nicholas: Do you really think that Google is moving in on Monster's buisiness? I would have to assume that they have total domination of the Internet in store, but from recent reports, it looks like they're moving in on Paypal-type services, as well as continuing on the communication efforts. Doing jobs would seem to be a really big diverification. |
Bratsche: I think it was a joke on how any new service from Google is called the next XYZ-killer, where XYZ is some big company like EBay, and this changes almost from week to week. |
"...reverse racism where 'minorities' get a boost"? Get a clue. Asking for potential employee's ethnicity, by law, cannot be required, but can be solicited from those opting to provide it. If anything, companies are likely (hopefully) to use this information to ensure fair hiring practices in order to avoid perpetuating discriminatory hiring practices, i.e., keeping non-whites out of the mainstream workforce. Time to get educated. |
Here's something i noticed.... when you add a job to your cart and then shows you the Personal Info Form, try adding the job you really want to have at Google by editing the URL in the address bar, sample below:
