I blogged about this last November (michaelzimmer.org/2005/11/28/g ...), noting the concerns with adding your phone number to the laundry list of personal information Google collects about you. |
Run a search for "New York Hotels" (google.com/search?q=new+york+h ...)and you'll get the little green handset... |
Well, only in US/CA I guess, no green phones in good old Europe |
If you do the search for [new york hotels] and click the green handset, you can then click "more>>" and see Google's Click-To-Call FAQ. The direct link is here: google.com/help/faq_clicktocal ...
Pretty innarestin' that they retain our information only temporarily. From the above linked page:
In addition, we retain your information (including your phone number, date, time, and call length) only temporarily. It will be deleted from our servers after a period reasonably necessary to operate, audit, and evaluate the service. |
actaully this is old stuff...and its did not cover my area code even though I was in Canada..
After that I have not tracked this feature...yeah me2 was a little taken aback by the "luandry list" :)- |
I get the phone, but it errors when I try to have them call me. |
Temporarily still can mean a long time. It just limits Google to a defined time period, as opposed to "forever". |
click2call is gone live.. but its like a crank call
