I had 500+ messages in my Gmail Inbox and now suddenly I have 75.. Does Gmail put your items automatically in Archive now?

So what happened to the missing 425+ ones? I presume you tried "All Mail" in the left column, which is Google's equivalent of what elsewhere is called "Inbox" (i.e. all rcvd/ not processed msgs). If they're not there then something could have happened to your mailbox; otherwise it's conceivable that Google *just* might have changed some rules on how "old mail" in the Inbox is displayed.... (compare with any internal search result, in which msgs older than a month? appear with a summary, whereas those fairly new/ish are listed only with subject lines....)

Also check your Settings for number of displayed msgs/screen item.

I archive everything. I only have a few things in my inbox at any time. I rely on search heavily. (search is great in archived)
