Philipp, it gives me 50 errors for google.com. Some inconsistency in W3C? After all, the page is more or less a "static" one.

For me this reads
http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com
Result: Failed validation, 48 errors

... however, when I scroll down I can see 66 errors are displayed. Hmmm...

I just saw that for some reason, Google forwards the validator to http://www.google.co.jp/ ...

http://pack.google.com/

60 errors (64 errors listed)

In list you can see error and Info therefore in list you see 64 point, but errors only 60, for pack.google.com.

Sorry for bad English :)

yeah, the list shows *errors* and *info* and counts both in the numbering. At one point google video passed (it definately doesn't anymore)

It's a shame even Firefox default homepage (sponsored by Google, as it seems) has errors
FYI go to about:config and set javascript.options.showInConsole & javascript.options.strict to true to see errors and warnings in the JS console.
Nevertheless some people say there's no reason the W3C should be the only reference in the world...

This is all relative. Look at nearly any exremely popular page and you'll see the same thing. It all comes down to bandwidth costs. Google's errors pale in comaprison to yahoo
http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fyahoo.com
and live.com
http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.live.com%2F&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline
so there's really no reason to bash google for this

Total of only 44 errors on google.cn.

...Even their errors are censored in China ;)

However...a record-smashing 296 errors if you search for Tiananmen images in Google China:

http://images.google.cn/images?svnum=10&hl=zh-CN&lr=&cr=countryBR&q=tiananmen

"failed validation" entirely for web search for Tiananmen!

Oh, that's funny: a total of 326 errors for this:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=do+no+evil

Exactly the same in China, 326 total errors! Perhaps the only similarity in the two versions of Google.

http://www.google.cn/search?hl=zh-CN&q=do+no+evil

The term evidently drives Google's computers nuts, not to mention their reputation ;)

Sorry, I couldn't resist seeing if there was an error in the application of their motto.

HTTP://VIDEO.GOOGLE.COM – Continously experiencing Internet explorer termination errors when viewing videos (when video link is opened to actual source). "Internet has experienced an unexpected error and must close.

What do I do? It keeps happening...
