This is a non-serious post and 100% non-sense & fantasies
You might wonder why Google bought Writely. Sure, Web 3.0, enough money and and and. But the real reason is... because they could not sign up for a beta account. This time, Google was waiting in the line to test a "cool" product. In the same line thousand of Internet-users are every day if they want to sign up for a Google (Beta) Service (Gmail, Analytics, Base paid).

Or they just wanted to assimilate a competitor because they were developing something related in-house... the Borg strategy!
