Google Personalized Results

About 2 months ago I got a new laptop. When I use google on it, I never get one-box results. But when I use my old PC, I get the regular one-box result. I can only guess that google must be gathering my search behavior on my new laptop first to determine what one-box results to return. What do you think?

I also noticed that my personalized results are getting more fine-tuned. Before, I never noticed much difference with personalized search turned on, but now I am actually noticing better results moving up the list. Furthermore, I am convinced that google is tracking my behavior. For example, after doing a search today, I got three ads on top, then I turned off personalized search it changed to two ads on top. Turned personalized search back on, the three ads returned, but also, now results returned from Google Desktop. It is as if google is trying to figure out what I'm looking for.

Anyone having similar experiences?

While I don't know why you get different results on the laptop, I can say that whenever I get personalized results I click the "off" link... I want to see what everyone else sees. Besides, I don't want my search results on Thursday be influenced by what I searched on Tuesday because I might have been researching something completely different!
