Apparently Google bought an advanced text search algorithm developed by Ori Alon, a Israeli student; he now works at Google.

It seems Microsoft and Yahoo were also trying to get a hold of this, so it must be some big deal.

Ok, i'll stop posting on this now, the first news article misspelled the guys name.The correct spelling is Ori Allon. Because of the misspelling, I was finding it difficult to find more info.

Sounds like it uses something like google sets to increase value of search results.... interesting!
