Gmail Usability Problems

I am finding it harder and harder to find emails in Gmail. This is because most of the messages it finds are chat history ones! When searching for emails there should be an option to exclude chats, so i can just see emails.

Anybody else found this a problem, or got any other usability problems with Gmail?

it wouldn't even be that hard to implement.

Oh, but it's so easy.

Enter: [your search query] -chat

Or even better:
[your search query] -label:Chats

Thanks Ionut.
But surely it would be better to include a little checkbox that does the same thing? I can't see novice users typing in [search query] -label:chats

You can also just go the advanced search options no?

DP, I can restrict the search to just my inbox, or just my archive...
