I was a kind of wondering whether Google is going to introduce the desktop version of its newly launched calendar as well. the reason i am asking this question is that quite a few people may want to use the calendar offline as they are away from their home/office and using their laptops.

Does anyone have any idea on this issue/

They probably won't introduce a full desktop calendar app, but I'm sure third parties will use the Calendar Api to create desktop plugins and apps for google calendar. Google will probably introduce a calendar panel for Google Desktop.
