All I see is spin, vaporware, hype, and the kind of schmaltzy sentences that can only be written by PR droids. Am I missing something?

This is a sandbox project of MSFT . MSFT has a mintory stake in this company.. however Karl's group got a some seed captial thrown in recently.. so all the noise.

Roger, what you are missing is wallap can addresses some of concerns regarding security and privacy in today’s social networks... which then will make them players for myspace / facebook etc etc..

Have you used it before? Right now mywallop.com says "Wallop is temporarily down for maintenance. Check back soon!"

I first looked at Wallop in November 2004 and was stunned by the UI they had. But with hardly any activity in the past 1.5 years, Wallop seemed dead. Great to know it is back again for it is absolutely amazing.
