the demo's are very cool.

it would have been even cooler if they had used Python or Ruby.

Java is actually quite easy to learn.
I've found this website very helpful ... http://www.leepoint.net/notes-java/index.html

You may need something else to get you going though. I'll keep a look out

Thought it would be interesting for us to see the first Digg article on Ajax, now that we have tons of them. http://digg.com/links/First_Ajax_Article_on_Digg but some ppl just got mad at me.

Not only the KitchenSink demo, but the mail demo is even more interesting. Something like Yahoo Mail Beta (auto preview). In another sample code (for JSON), they have used Yahoo api search query.
