Philipp, htere is a lot of spam these days in the forum. We have 2 types of spam in this forum; the Gmail Invitations spam and the ordinary pharmaceutical sites spam. I hate both of them. What are you doing to deal with this situation? Can I help you? Let me know.

Yannick, thanks for offering help. At the moment I can still deal with the situation. I'm deleting about 2 "pharmaceutical spam" posts each day. I delete around 20 "Gmail invitation" posts. The Gmail posts should stop once Gmail is actually a public service, free for anyone to sign up. If the forum gets more high traffic and much more spam, I will get back on your offer and give you the password to delete posts, or think of other ways to deal with the situation.

PS: I already got some spam filters running for the "pharmacies". They block certain URLs. I should add some more filters.

How about display an image with a Security Code and demand the user to enter a Security Code manually before allowing posting to go through? We can see this in Gmail when you try several times to login with the wrong username or password, in yotoshi.com, and in many other sites. I have no experience implementing this kind of spider traps, but I am sure that with the knowledge that you have in programming, anything will go easy. Best regards!

Interesting idea. Those are called "captchas" and while I currently have no software on my server to run them I might get it working. For now I added several new words to the ban list, including a lot of pharmacy and shopping-related URLs. Of course I could also make this forum registration-only, but I want it to be as easy to use as possible, even for those who just want to write a small comment on a post.

I understand your forum concept and you are correct; "be as easy to use as possible". That is one of the reasons why this forum is so successful. Keep up the good work!
