The cryptex was a prize for being among the first 10,000 to complete the first part of the Da Vinci Code Quest on Google (which quickly became the largest thread on this forum :) Those 10,000 then had a chance to compete in the final challenge, which only has one winner (there was a lot of cheating, as everyone got the same puzzles).
The cryptex we got is actually a "crippled" version of the mini-cryptex being sold at Noble Collection (http://www.noblecollection.com/catalog/catalog.cfm?catid=52) in that it only uses 2 dials to open it rather than all 5 dials. You can change the code required to open it. |

i would sell mine cause god knows i need the money, but im way too proud of getting it. getting the cryptex was my only goal playing the puzzles because i knew i would never win the real trip. im just really proud that i had the chance and i have the proof. |
