<<Google has no plans to build its own Web browser software to compete with rival Microsoft Corp. Chief Executive Eric Schmidt said on Wednesday.

They are happy to run inside the web browser I guess... though they might be able to use the browser to display even more AdSense, tailored to every page the user visits whether it has AdSense or not... |

That's how Opera used to work until 8.50 and it didn't look very nice. Plus webmasters that had AdS on their sites didn't want to compete with the AdS built in the browser.

I’m not counting out a Google Browser yet. The comments Schmidt made reminded me of Steve Jobs before iPod with video came out. I think Google has a lot of interest in a browser and the project will turn out to be a big moneymaker for them.
