Yes, Lulu.com is a self-publisher. The book will also be available on Amazon in the near future, but for a higher price (Amazon adds their own commission).

In the sum, yes. Whenever I wanted to check if the book formatted right with Lulu's Word to PDF converter, I had to upload it. A single upload takes around 15 minutes. But I had to do this 100s of times because of converter issues! Around half-time I switched from Open Office Writer to Microsoft Word, which I bought just for the book. But the issues continued... oh, I could write a 2nd book about how to write a book with Lulu :)

Yes! Lulu tells me it takes 8 weeks. The book is released under Creative Commons and I'm curious how it will appear in Google Book Search.

Yeah, I tried that and a lot of other things. There's a whole history of issues and follow-up issues somewhere buried in the Lulu forums :D

I mean I prefer Amazon too, especially because I know them & have an account there. The book on Amazon will be around $3 more expensive (Amazon's commission), and it might take a couple of months for it to arrive.

Yeah, I posted a review – or rather, I disclosed that I'm the author of the book and copied some reviews from Lulu – but that didn't show up yet... hmmm. If anyone wants to paste their review into Amazon it's appreciated. I'm currently trying to upload the cover, another learning experience (you are actually required to ask them for an FTP password, and then upload [isbn].jpg to a specific server, and then they take the cover from there in some days).

Weird. 55 Ways to Have Fun With Google on Amazon shows "6 used & new" for sale. :)

They write "usally ships in 24 hours", but then after I've ordered it there's the following estimates:
Shipping estimate: June 26, 2006 – June 29, 2006
Delivery estimate: July 10, 2006 – July 26, 2006

So I think you have to wait until August for my review. :-(

There will be, I'm working on it. You're supposed to send an email to Amazon to get the password for an FTP account to which you can upload the cover. I'm still waiting for Amazon to get back to me... :/
