I don't know if it's the same one, but Philipp recently posted about one here :-

Which looks closely related to the new results pages design he reported about here :-

If, like me, you actually prefer the new/trial design, and want to keep using it, I've made a bookmarklet – GoogleAnon 'Special Edition' ;) – to make it easier to try, and/or to chop and change between old and new :-

It should work with almost all browsers and Google country domains (I've tested with IE6, Opera 8+9, Firefox 1.5 and about 20 country domains).

I prefer it for its better use of vertical space – i.e. you see more results per page. Most people, using landscape monitors, have more horizontal than vertical space 'spare', especially when using an adblocker.

BTW, the ZapCookie and ShowCookie bookmarklets on the same page can also be useful for testing, reverting, etc. even if you're just manually pasting in Philipp's javascript link.

I just discover that :

Do you think it's "real" or is it an extention, grease monkey or something else?

I think it is real. Someone (I think they were called Kevin, but that could be totally wrong) said they had seen a design like that but had not got a screenshot a while ago.

But as for its functionality I doubt it would ever catch on.

Tom, don't do anything! :D
Can you read your cookie value so we can all try this?

I don't think that he is seeing it, I think he just stumbled across it on Flickr.

Ah OK.
