what do you use, Notifier or the GTalk Notifier, for GMail?

I have noticed the regular Notifier acting weird. It pops up with message 1 of 1, but then hesitates, goes down, comes back up, etc, then finally disappears. I uninstalled and reinstalled- it seems to happen only in AM when a bulk amount of mail from overnight comes in, IE multiple mails.

Is it worth it to ditch the regular notifier and just use the GTalk one? (I would like to use GTalk but don't know any other than PL that uses it, and his is never on!)(that I can tell!)

i use Gmail Notifier..
cause Google Talk takes too much RAM usage..(my computer is kinda slow...)

and did you check your firewall?
maybe it has blocked the GMail Notifier :/

no firewall issues- no setting has changed to cause this behavior. the only FW I have is the Windows Firewall.

ohh..
ummm so how about:
1)contacting Google,, report this troubleshooting
2)try to disable your FW..for just 2 seconds..
(and by the way.. try to disable this FW for good!! its a stupid FW!! try replacing it)
3)if all the things above doesnt work and youre using FF then you can get the Gmail Notifier add-on..(for FF of course)

use gmail manager for firefox or google toolbar 4 for internet explorer. gmail notifier is really buggy.

I check my email every hour or so... a notifier would probably drive me crazy :)

I use the notifier. I can't stand gtalk (funny since I use gaim and Sean is a developer of both) But with my line of work I use E-mail much like IM I respond to it quickly. all in all I probably get 1/2 the Email of Mr Lenssen, but I could never only check it every hour or so!
