Don't know if this has been commented in the forum before but there are some Google Search Appliance demo sites where you can test how GSA works.

I knew about http://gsademo1.google.com but didn't realise there were so many of them. (I should know by now that if there's a number in the domain I should also try consecutive numbers!)
