Also now I get a sponsored link from Google to add it to my /ig page.

Which takes you to google.co.uk/ig/worldcup

Which is interesting as even if you are signed in you get the sign in link in the top corner of the page. And the page has the scores module, and some videos (about Joga) on the right.

With the amount of features available at Google, why didn't they make a specific World Cup page. Just look at what could have been included:

Video: Clips of players, teams etc.
News: News of the World Cup
Calendar: Add match games to your Calendar
Groups: Just like on Fianance
Blogger: Just like on Fianance again
Images: Much like Fianance again

So, it would have shown customers what Google has in its stockpile, and make the services avilable to everyone, seeing as not many people know about all the services provided.

... and they are in your own timezone. That is neat.

Orli: I reckon it is probably a series much like the Olympics one they do every year.
