Does anybody use the Open Shortcuts system of Yahoo (http://shortcuts.search.yahoo.com/) ? Wouldn't such a system be a great idea to incorporate in Google OS? It's back to the good old command line OS'es, but it seems to be very powerfull.

I think people more and more want to rely on lazy shortcuts ... natural language, and you don't need to register the shortcut anywhere (as it's too complicated).
For example, when I enter
   football results
then I want a onebox result somewhere triggered by my lazy query. When I enter
   eric schmidt article on wikipedia
then I want the Wikipedia article (above query returns the right result on Google/ Yahoo/ MSN/ Ask, BTW).

Philipp: your right that should be utopia. But as long as the world isn't perfect a shortcut system could be very great. Customisation could be great too. E.g. you could choose the web e-mailclient you prefer to use and not the one that is build in in the search system...

I use shortcuts to get to by favourites rather than using the mouse. For instance for Google Blogoscoped I type "gob" etc.

Open Shortcuts from Yahoo! are flawed with their silly notation etc. The "!" is hardly the easiest character to get to. I prefer something like YubNub which is a social command line with user generated shortcuts all shared. It has some good standard ones too. For a search box it is great.
