Error document. ...
Why lose 2% of your visitor when you with a simple technic can guide visitor to the index and not to "cant be found" page's when someone spell the URL wrong or call up a no longer existing /blabla.html page from your domain. ....
Step one: Open a new document, name it /404.html
Paste this tags between 'head – /head'
<meta name="robots" content="noindex,nofollow"> <meta HTTP-EQUIV="Refresh" CONTENT="5; URL=http://www.dit-domæne.dk"> <meta HTTP-EQUIV="Page-Enter" CONTENT="revealtrans(duration=4.0, transition=2)"> <meta HTTP-EQUIV="Page-Exit" CONTENT="revealtrans(duration=4.0, transition=2)">
Step two: Open notepad, name it htaccess
Write: ErrorDocument 404 http://www.your-domain/404.html
When you upload the files via FTP
you shall rename the htaccess to .htaccess (important)
Now the fil should be in your root and your webhotel support will assist and place it in the right folder. (I hope so, depending on the server)
Why not ask if your HOST provide this kind of service and your visitor will never be stopped by a 404 ERROR command.
Have fun :O) Kim Anton Hollenner |
