Google sold all 749.625 shares from Chienese search engine leader baidu.com
Google bought the shares in 2004 for 5mio dollars, and has now sold them for 60mio dollars

Google had a 2.6% stake in Baidu, which is not much and even $60 millions ain't much either. I wonder why Google dumped thoses shares, I am sure it's more of a political than a financial matter!

Good Pointer Corsin!!

This is divestment strategy at play here. Why would Google want to divest a cash cow ?? I think that google will lead the way and may eventually pull out of china in a major way. This maybe the first indicators of an exist strategy.

Rememer the founders of google said that they made a bad decision on with china regime. So if they pull away totally and bycott china, then the rest of the world (MSFT/ YHOO, CISCO) etc will also have need to take a stance.

This is interest space to watch.. now
