There's lots of info available direct from Google at
https://checkout.google.com/sell
However all the help pages give 404s at the moment. |
checkout.google.com is now live! |
wow.. the video(down below) is very cool!! a lot more cool than the current video style on Google Video. |
Anyone know of any sites that are using google checkout? this page isn't working yet.. https://checkout.google.com/buyer/merchants.html |
works for me
Levi's Timberland Buy.com Starbucks Store Zales Jockey GNC Dick's Sporting Goods Ritz Camera BlueFly Aeropostale Tweeter eCost Dockers Fossil (coming soon) Ace Hardware /coming soon)
And a lot more "To get $10 off your order of $20 or more from these stores, enter the coupon code listed below during Google Checkout. (Disc0unt valid once per store)" nice ;) |
[moved from a wrong thread]
Accredited shops:
google.com/buy/m.html
Also,
" Link Google Checkout to your AdWords account
Tell us about your AdWords account(s) and receive free transaction processing based on how much you spend in AdWords."
Now Google will hook up directly with the seller/product from a simple search query ...

Do you think we'll see the one-click method of payment integrated into froogle? |
I can login in now. But still can't find anywhere to make a purchase. |
https://checkout.google.com/ https://purchases.google.com/
Both are pointing to the same service, Google Checkout.
Is it supposed to be one service fot both buyers and sellers ?
BTW: I can login and play with it already. Everybody successful at that?
|
Do you think it´s only for the USA? Cause they have it in conditions, but apparently you can register even from other countries. |
yeah i saw that jilm. But i registered anyway. (UK) |
i confirm, i can login too! |
a new product without the beta tag.. ;-) |
For seller US only, buyers however can be of any country in the world.
They updated the new Google Accounts page with default payment method and shipping address.

|
Could anybody outside of US try to pay for anything? |
jilm,
As long as they allow the shipping address to be anywhere in the world and use a valid credit card, the transaction will go like a hot knife through butter ;-p
|
I can't understand why they don't allow you to link your Adsense account to the Google Purchases, It's a logical thing to do,... plus I've got my $72.06 that doesn't want to reach the $100 limit yet and I'd love to use it! |
it's good to see a product launch non-beta once in a while.
i need to find my card now :-D |
jilm, I just received an email from the Google investors' email notification list titled "Google Checkout Opens for Business".
To answer your question, quote:
" The service is currently open to all U.S. merchants, whether they advertise with Google or not, and Google is currently working to make the service available to merchants internationally. "
As for buyers, as I mentioned above, it seems to be open for business world wide ,-p
Google Checkout is indeed cheaper that Paypal for sellers, this is what they are offering:
Sales of up to 10 times your monthly AdWords spend ----> FREE Sales less of 10 times your monthly AdWords spend ----> 2% + $0.20 per transaction
So I guess if you don't have an Adwords accounts you'll be paying 2% fee on the transaction which is pretty interessting.
They are definatly pushing sellers to advertise on Google. I can see an interessting thing here, as the Google ads are very effective, in the long run, transaction fees will turn out to be PPCs. Or shall we call it pay-per-sell...
I feel this is groundbreaking, Google is removing the middle man, something is telling me this is huge. Google is merging advertising and processing fees into one optimal fee. |
I can't see eBay nor Amazon yet on the accredited shops/sellers, I wonder when/if they will join the program ;-p. If you can't beat your enemy, be their friend.
Another remark:
Why is http://www.google.com/purchases the 1st and http://purchases.google.com/ the 5th results for the search query "purchases" ??!
Would Google really be manually editing results for their own profit ?!!

<< Why is google.com/purchases the 1st and purchases.google.com/ the 5th results for the search query "purchases" ??! >>
I'm guessing that's simply because every man and his dog has blogged about "Google Purchases" over the last few months and linked to those URLs... |
Would have been interesting to do that search say a week ago.
Nothing significant on: http://google.com/trends?q=purchases |
