Larry Elisson from Oracle in a Belgian newspaper.

Translated with Bablefish for you as Google has no Dutch to English so far:

Does he really means this? Is he becoming slightly insane?

Let's make some virtual statements (not taken from the real world, no one should do this...)

Let's say you have a nice & performing database company. Then you'll make some development tools. You make them first powerfull 4GL tools but then all at once you stop those client/server versions because you believe in the web (and buy the way you can change the license model to grab a lot more money from your clients...) Then you stop the innovation of that 4GL stuff because Java is the thing to do now...

Then you'll try to make some ERP application. No, that's not enough let's buy some more. And maybe also some fusion soft to glue it alltogether. BTW that's a very good thing because then you can say that you have a professional platform that supports fully webservices... (Don't mention that you have to give up your own platform first...)

Just this little virtual story to ask how far is ERP software from database software?

Sure Oracle isn't God neither...
